Why are you interested in serving on the Prairie Food Board of Directors?
I have lived in Lombard most of my life and have many memories of our downtown being a busy and vibrant place. I believe, with all of our efforts, we can make this happen again. Having a community-owned grocery store, with ties to local farmers and other local markets, provides us with a healthy, wholesome alternative to the larger chains of grocery stores we now have in our area.
I have been involved in the Prairie Food Co-Op since we established the Interim Board of Directors. I currently serve as Co-Treasurer and Co-Volunteer Coordinator. I have enjoyed being a part of the Prairie Food community at large and look forward to seeing our store become a piece of the Lombard community. I would like to be a part of this truly inspirational journey as an elected Board member.
What experience, education, and skills do you have that you feel will contribute to your effectiveness as a Prairie Food Director?
I have a business background, so I hope to offer some insight and vision in the creation of our business practices and guidelines. In my role as an analyst, I have looked at quality improvement and safety issues. I researched and wrote business plans and proposals at departmental levels to ensure procedures and processes were accurate and up to date . As we come closer to opening up our doors, I look forward to being able to better utilize my research and analysis skills.
I have volunteered at many events and have attended community meetings to help spread the word about Prairie Food Co-Op. I have attended the all-day workshop hosted by the Food Co-Op Initiative, which guides start-ups. I have met with and worked with our volunteers to keep them informed and up to date on our events, as well as how they can become involved in these events.
I am eager to continue to serve on the Board and hope to contribute in as many ways as I can to help the Prairie Food Co-Op be successful.
