I believe that having a food cooperative in our community will strengthen our local economy in a very real and permanent way. My husband and I plan to retire here someday, and that will only be possible if local retail business is thriving. In addition, I love food! Especially fresh, healthy, local food. Having the co-op will be like having farmer’s market season all year and I look forward to that.

Why are you interested in serving on the Prairie Food Board of Directors?

The concept of a community owned grocery store filled with healthy foods I can trust is very appealing to me. Previous family health concerns have fueled my interest in what is truly in our foods. The answers I am finding are shocking and very disconcerting to me. I believe our food supply system is fundamentally broken with large corporations and government agencies serving their own interests and not the consumer. Read More

Why are you interested in serving on the Prairie Food Board of Directors?

I am deeply committed to the success of the Prairie Food Co-op. Many Lombard residents lack access to high-quality, sustainable, locally produced food. In fact, Northern Lombard is a designated Undeserved Supermarket Area by the USDA. I plan to raise my family here in Lombard and want all of our families to have better access to safe, high-quality food. The Prairie Food Co-op will have a tremendously beneficial economic impact on our community… Read More

Why are you interested in serving on the Prairie Food Board of Directors?

The Prairie Food Co-op is an answer to several “problems” that are of concern to me. Maintaining my health and physical wellbeing is a priority. Why are you interested in serving on the Prairie Food Board of Directors?

Having a community-owned grocery store, with ties to local farmers and other local markets, provides us with a healthy, wholesome alternative to the larger chains of grocery stores we now have in our area. Read More
